On November 11, 2025 the Abbotsford Canucks honoured the Canadian Armed Forces. Taking time to remember the men and women who have died serving and protecting our country.

The Abbotsford Canucks faced off against the San Jose Barracuda for the first of 2 games, before heading back on the road.

Abbotsford returned from a 2 game road trip to Colorado where a number of firsts took place. Nick Poisson made his AHL debut and scored his first goal in the AHL. Josh Bloom also earned his first AHL goal.

Another debut took place as Jake Murray made his first appearance as an Abbotsford Canuck.

The game started with gusto, both teams battling hard, driving the puck to the net. Abbotsford looked close to scoring early in the first.

San Jose’s Vincent Iorio took the first penalty of the night for tripping at 3:55 in the first. Giving Abbotsford the power play. San Jose was strong on the defence which led to a successful penalty kill.

Abbotsford came close to a goal after the penalty kill, with fans cheering believing the puck went in, however, Jakub Skarek was a wall in net.

San Jose’s Patrick Giles opened the scoring in the first, putting the game 1-0 at 8:48.

Abbotsford continued to battle hard to get themselves on the board. However, San Jose battled harder and Zack Ostapchuk scored at 16:09 in the first.

The first period ended 2-0 for San Jose.

San Jose’s Lucas Carlsson opened the scoring in the second period at 3:24.

Jake Murray took Abbotsford’s first penalty of the game at 5:05 for cross-checking, giving San Jose the man advantage. Abbotsford fought hard on the defensive and was successful on the penalty kill.

Turn overs proved to be a challenge throughout the game, which led to lack of flow, players missing passes or being unaware of where their teammates were.

Giles would score his second of the game at 13:56, putting the game to 4-0 for San Jose.

Abbotsford continued to battle hard to try to put up a point. But Igor Chernyshov of San Jose would score the fifth goal of the night. Making the game 5-0 at 16:20 in the second period.

The second period would end 5-0 for San Jose.

Jonathan Lemieux started in net for Abbotsford in the third. This would be his second appearance in net this season. He made his Abbotsford Canucks debut during the Colorado road trip.

Lemieux made some incredible saves, bringing some much needed energy back to the Abbotsford lineup.

Chernyshov scored his second goal of the night at 8:30 in the third, which put San Jose up 6-0.

San Jose’s Luca Cagnoni took a hooking penalty at 11:08 in the third. Giving Abbotsford their second man advantage of the night. San Jose would remain 2-for-2 on the penalty kill. Keeping the game 6-0.

Ben Berard took a hooking penalty at 14:58 in the third. Giving San Jose their second power play of the night.

Chernyshov capitalized on the power play, scoring a hat trick at 16:34. Giving San Jose a 7-0 lead.

The game would end 7-0 for San Jose. Though it was not the outcome they wanted, the team battled hard but couldn’t get the puck in the net.

Captain Chase Wouters commented his thoughts on the game; “[W]e were down two in the first, and then we came up flat in the second. They kind of took over. And that's not really acceptable for our group. You know I thought our first period wasn’t bad. They got two, and after that, I guess we fell off.”

When asked about how they address pushing through the adversities he stated; “I think everyone kind of has their own ways of dealing with adversity, but as a group we just [need to] show up, and you know, we work and we push each other to be better. And I think that’s ultimately what's going to get us through this.”

The Abbotsford Canucks and San Jose Barracuda will face off again on November 12, at 7pm, PST at the Abbotsford Centre.
