
On Saturday February 15, 2025 Team Canada and Team USA faced off on the ice for the first time in eleven years.
The tensions were high and country pride was on the line. Within the first nine seconds of the game there were three fights.
Team Canada opened the scoring with a beauty of a goal by McDavid. Team USA followed suit minutes later scoring their first goal of the night.
The first period was physical and tensions remained high until the end. Both teams fought hard, playing with equal vigor, leaving both teams tied 1-1.
The second period continued to be a battle of aggression. Powerful hits and intense game play prevailed, leaving both teams with many opportunities in front of the net.
Team USA fought harder and managed to score their second goal of the night. Team Canada continued to fight but couldn’t find the net.
The third period continued to be a fight. Team Canada continued to drive to the net but the hard defending from Team USA and high number of turnovers made creating plays difficult.
Team USA scored an empty net goal with less than a minute and a half left in the third. Making the end score 3-1 for Team USA.
Though the ending was not the outcome we wanted, Team Canada fought hard and continues to make their country proud.
