Over the course of 20 years, Taylor Swift has made music and continued to grow as the biggest artist in the world. Last December, she finished her iconic Eras Tour at BC Place in Vancouver. Her music and person has not only impacted the music industry but it has begun to have an effect on the sports industry as well.

After her concert in Kansas City, NFL Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce was captured by her performance. He tried meeting her and handing over a friendship bracelet with his number on it but his efforts were unsuccessful. Kelce said this during his podcast with his brother Jason, former Philadelphia Eagles player.

This little comment was the beginning of their relationship and Swift’s introduction to the NFL world. As she began showing up to games and making the relationship public, girls began paying attention to football. What team is Travis on? What position does he play? What is a touchdown?

All of these were questions the Swifties had, as they became interested in football in support of Taylor. The NFL saw an increase in female viewers, little girls joined their dads in watching games at home. This was just in response to Taylor dating Travis.

On August 13, 2025 she joined Travis and Jason on their podcast New Heights. They had 1.3 million people live streaming the episode when it dropped. There she talked about her reaction to Travis’ bracelet idea, getting into football, and reclaiming her masters. Taylor then revealed the title and cover of her new record: The Life of a Showgirl.

Taylor never asked her fans to cheer for the Chiefs or to watch football, yet they did. This influence allowed for a new space to open for female fans in the NFL. In an indirect way, she showed girls it more than okay to listen to her music and be a football fan. You can love glitter and sparkles, dance to pop music and still wear your jersey and cheer for your team.

Taylor Swift was not planning on helping grow the game when she began dating Travis Kelce. However, her pop star influence created a butterfly effect that rippled into growing the sports scene for women.

Whether you want to simply watch a game or work in the industry, there is a sense of comfort in knowing the world’s biggest pop star is on your side.
