Abbotsford Canucks fought hard but come up short against the Manitoba Moose

March 10, 2026 was the second of two meetups between the Abbotsford Canucks and the Manitoba Moose. The first time these teams faced off was back at the end of December and beginning of January. They split the series and this time, both teams looked for a sweep.
Philip Di Giuseppe made his return to the Abbotsford ice in the Manitoba uniform after a trade during the off season. Josh Bloom got re-called from Kalamazoo, where he had a stellar performance securing ECHL player of the month for February.
The first period started strong with both teams driving the puck into the opposing zone, looking for the opening goal.
Manitoba's Dylan Anhorn went to the box at 3:21 in the first for goalie interference, giving Abbotsford the man advantage. Manitoba was successful on the penalty kill.
Chase Stillman and Manitoba’s Jaret Anderson-Dolan went to the box at 7:37 in the first. Stillman got 5 minutes for fighting, while Anderson-Dolan went to the box for cross-checking and fighting.
Joe Arntsen went to the box at 12:00 in the first for slashing, putting Manitoba on the power play. Abbotsford was successful on the penalty kill.
Despite a hard fought battle the first period ended 0-0.
The physicality remained high at the beginning of the second, as both teams continued looking for the opening goal.
Manitoba’s Samuel Fagemo opened the scoring at 1:33 in the second.
Abbotsford continued to battle hard, to get on the board, while Manitoba looked to widen the gap.
Though the tensions and physicality remained high, no penalties were called within the first half of the second period.
Manitoba’s Parker Ford scored the second goal of the night at 13:04 in the second.
Despite Abbotsford managing to double Manitoba’s shots on net, Thomas Milic was a wall in the crease, keeping the score 2-0, for Manitoba.
Nikolai Knyzhov went to the box with 49 seconds left in the second period for hooking, giving Manitoba the man advantage.
The second period ended 2-0 for Manitoba.
The third period started with 1:11 left in the Manitoba power play. Abbotsford was successful on the penalty kill.
Abbotsford continued to battle hard for their first goal of the night, while Manitoba looked for their third.
Sawyer Mynio went to the box at 6:10 in the third for cross-checking, putting Manitoba on the power play. Manitoba’s Nikita Chibrikov capitalized on the man advantage at 7:01.
Abbotsford continued to battle hard despite the goal differential.
Manitoba’s Isaak Phillips scored at 9:07 in the third.
Tensions flared, sending Stillman to the box at 10:46 in the third, where he received 5 minutes for fighting and a 10 minute game misconduct. Manitoba’s Mason Shaw and Ford also went to the box at 10:46. Ford received a roughing penalty, and Shaw served a 5 minute penalty for fighting.
The game continued 5-on-4 for Abbotsford where they looked to capitalize with the extra man. Manitoba was successful on the penalty kill.
Mynio and Manitoba’s Di Giuseppe left the game at 15:47. Mynio received 2 minutes for slashing and 10 minutes for continuing altercation. Di Guiseppe got 2 minutes for roughing and 10 minutes for continuing altercation. Danila Klimovich served the 2 minute slashing penalty, while Manitoba’s Brayden Yager served the 2 minute roughing penalty.
Manitoba’s Kale Clague went to the box at 16:03 in the third for slashing, giving Abbotsford the man advantage.
Both Abbotsford and Manitoba were successful on their first penalty kill. Manitoba was successful on the second penalty kill.
Despite a hard fought battle, Abbotsford could not get the puck past Milic, leading to a 4-0 victory for Manitoba.
The Abbotsford Canucks and the Manitoba Moose face off again tomorrow night at 7 pm, PST, at Rogers Forum.
