The Vancouver Whitecaps FC dominated the Seattle Sounders in a thrilling 3-0 match on June 8, 2025. With an added win, the Whitecaps achieved their eleventh undefeated match in the MLS, acquiring a new club record.

The first half began a little messy, where the Whitecaps appeared not to be able to find their pace. Many of their players were out due to being called to play for their national team.

The lack of organization allowed Seattle to dominate the attacking third early on. As the game continued, the Whitecaps found their rhythm, with strong defence and looking for ways to score.

At 40’, the crowd was dazzled with a goal by BC’s very own Jeevan Badwal. The 19 year old Surrey native scored his first career goal in front of a home crowd.

When asked how it felt to have 24,276 people in attendance cheer his name, Badwal said “it [gave me] goosebumps.”

The Whitecaps were celebrating their Indigenous Peoples Celebration Match. With a custom logo and an intermission show, the Whitecaps paid homage and recognized the land on which they play. Individuals from the Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh nations, among others, were present to perform their traditional songs.

With a lead to start the second half, the Whitecaps played much better than they did in the beginning. Their plays were more organized as the Sounders battled to try and get a goal in. With his second goal of the season, Daniel Rios extended the lead in the 71’.

This was when Seattle began to play more aggressively. It seemed that Takaoka’s great performance in net and effort to stop their shots was beginning to stress them out.

This allowed for a free kick in the 89’. Damir Kreilach took the kick and scored. This was his first goal of the season and fiftieth MLS career goal.

The Whitecaps won 3-0 and established themselves as the best in the west.
