The Vancouver Goldeneyes battled hard against the Boston Fleet on March 10. Sadly, the Fleet took an overtime victory at the Pacific Coliseum.

The first period was scoreless but intensity was not minimal. Kristen Campbell was ready on net as Maschmeyer is out with an upper body injury.

Izzy Daniels gained control of the puck as she danced around Fleet players. Boston managed to get the puck back and tried opening the scoring but Campbell made an incredible stop.

The SOGs ending the first were 6-5 favoring Boston. Yet, the game was pretty controlled on both ends.

No team found the back of the net in the second either but that did not stop the crowd from cheering loudly. It seemed like all 9731 of the fans in attendance were standing in their seats, clapping as they started a quack chant. Campbell continued making incredible saves, energizing the team and the crowd.

Haley Winn got the Fleet on the board 3:19 into the third period.

Vancouver had back to back chances to get the equalizer but had yet to be lucky. Energy is at an all-time high as the audience attempts to motivate the Goldeneyes.

Finally, at 16:34, Sarah Nurse and Sophie Jacques pair up to assist on the Vancouver goal. Hannah Miller’s shot found the back of the net with only a few minutes before the final whistle.

After a tight fight and forcing overtime, the Goldeneyes could not get the win. Boston’s Shay Maloney scored just 41 seconds into OT, favoring the 2-1 score for the Fleet.

“Feels good […] it's my hometown, so I have a lot of pride in playing for Vancouver, and we've been really fortunate and lucky to have incredible support throughout the entire season,” said Miller when asked about getting her first goal on home ice.

Rylind MacKinnon of the Fleet is another BC born player on the ice for this game. MacKinnon played for the Thunderbirds at the University of British Columbia from 2018-2024 before playing her first season with the Toronto Scepters. After her one year contract, she signed to play with the Fleet.

Catch the Goldeneyes next home game on March 14 against the Ottawa Charge.
