The Vancouver Whitecaps FC continued their homestand on April 11 with a matchup against New York City FC. Coming off a dramatic win over the Portland Timbers, Vancouver carried that momentum into Matchday 7 with a 2–0 victory.

The Whitecaps controlled much of the first half, applying consistent pressure before breaking through in the 45th minute. Mathías Laborda opened the scoring, redirecting a free kick from Sebastian Berhalter into the back of the net. The goal marked Laborda’s second of the season and his fifth goal contribution across all competitions.

Vancouver sealed the win late in the match, doubling their lead in the 87th minute. Bruno Caicedo set up Brian White, who powered home a header to make it 2–0. The goal was a milestone moment, marking the club’s 700th regular-season goal in Major League Soccer play. Caicedo’s assist also stood out as his first point with the Whitecaps.

With the win, Vancouver moves to the top of both the Western Conference and the Supporters’ Shield standings.

The homestand continues on April 17 against Sporting Kansas City, followed by another home matchup with the Colorado Rapids before the team heads out on the road ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup break.
