September 2, 2025 marked the start of the last home series for the Vancouver Canadians against the Everett Aquasox. This season was one of ups and downs for the Canadians, but this final series was one for the books.
The series started with the Dog Days of Summer event, where fans could bring their dogs to the stadium to watch the game. Furry friends packed the stans to cheer on the Canadians.
The first inning started slow with no runs scored, however, the Aquasox would kick off the scoring with 3 runs in the top of the second.
No runs would be scored again until the fifth inning where both teams would secure a single run each. This would be the only run the Canadians would score this game.
The Aquasox would then go on to score 2 more runs in the top of the sixth inning, and would score another 2 runs in the top of the seventh. Securing an 8-1 win over the Canadians and taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
The following 2 games would go to the Canadians with a 8-2 win on Wednesday and a 6-2 win on Thursday. This allowed the Canadians to take the series lead 2-1 going into Friday's afternoon game.
Though the Canadians fell 4-1, and the series tied 2-2. Sean Keys broke the franchise record for the most amount of home runs hit during the regular season. Keys has been an integral part of the Canadians team this season. In the last month of play he had 2 walk-off home runs.
Saturday's game was a packed house for college night, and the Canadians came to play. The first 2 innings would remain scoreless, but the bottom of the third saw the Canadians come to life.
Sean Keys, Arjun Nimmala, and Carter Cunningham would all score in the third, to secure a 3-0 lead. They would then do the same in the bottom of the fourth with Cunningham hitting a triple run home run.
The Aquasox got their first run on the board in the top of the fifth and would be the final run scored in the game. This would give the Canadians a 6-1 victory over the Aquasox and a 3-2 lead in the series going into the final game on Sunday.
The final game of the season was filled with energy and a sold-out home crowd. Fans were excited as they packed the stadium.
As with most games this season no runs were scored in the first by either team. However, the Aquasox would score 2 runs in the top of the second which would remain the only 2 runs scored until the bottom of the eighth.
The eighth inning was an interesting one, as the fifth Canadian’s player was up at bat the fire alarm went off delaying the game and causing confusion for fans and players alike.
After everything settled the Aquasox did a pitching change which also led to a few interesting moments. The Aquasox pitcher got a violation giving the Canadian’s batter an automatic ball. Then in the next pitch a balk was called and each player on base advanced, allowing the Canadians to score their single run of the game.
The Aquasox would ultimately take the final win in the series leaving it tied 3-3. Though it was not the outcome wanted by the fans the energy and enthusiasm remained as they exited the stadium.
This season the Canadians had both a franchise losing streak and winning streak set. They were close to clinching a playoff spot during the first half of the season, however they came up short.
The Canadians will be back at Nat Bailey Stadium next season with their first game against the Eugene Emeralds on April 7, 2026.
